Beautiful Silhouettes in Toilet Paper Rolls

Anastassia Elias is an artist based in Paris who has recently taken time from painting and illustrating to explore the medium of cardboard. The series, called “Rouleaux” (“Rolls”), are silhouettes contained within toilet paper rolls. It takes her hours to complete each piece, which involves intricately cutting the shapes from similar cardboard and gently manipulating and placing them inside the rolls using tweezers. The beautiful images seem to become more life-like when warm light peaks into the roll, giving the scenes an almost sepia-tone quality found in old pictures.
