More from the Hello Kitty of contemporary art. The only juxtaposition I see is old school money meets new school money.

It’s so hideous and I’m speechless. Nothing makes me feel more ashamed of my being Japanese than the work of Murakami (and his shallow statements).

When artists start dabbling about their work I just want to cut their heads off. So I recomend, NEVER EVER listen or read artists “statements”, it’s a total waste of time. People react in different ways (except snobs) to the same piece of art, so enjoy the beauty (or whatever you perceive) of this show and it’ll be a thousand times more interesting than the artist “proposal”. Ufff…so long…Bye
P.S. : Hope it’s well written, my english is a little rusty nowadays.

Love it! Haters plz stop evangelizing! Pompous snobs.

so Tokyo_Dynamite, I would have thought the rape of Nanking might have ranked a little higher…

I like the irony of Mikey Mouse’s visit to the kings. Maybe it’s the bolshevik in me, so cut my head off.

Totally awesome.Luv it,especially those beautiful bronze sculptures.Also
like the way Takasha Murakami cocks a snook at tradition with that funky
in your face pop art culture.

It makes me want to see that glorious man made landscape again: Versailles with more gold and plastic. My eyes under another gem of a lie.

The art world is lousy now, at least this is fun.

People, have fun with this, and don’t take yourselves sooooooooo seriously. I know Marie Antoinette would love:)

Eye candy surrounded by eye candy…awesome

I don’t know what to say,but it’s beautiful

Totally agree with Toot, Patricia (M.A. would had her milliner making hats with this), Links and Lamar.
Years ago, when T.M. came to public life by the hand of Louis Vuitton everybody loved him, now it seems the fashion is to hate him. My first suspect of having started this fashion would be the hugelly less talented Jeff Koons. What do you think??? Bye.

17 posts for such a show is so not cool

[...] For some unknown reason, Versailles is currently hosting an exhibit by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Murakami’s stuff is fine — but it’s not congruent with the art at Versailles. [...]
