Dan Witz’s Hyperrealistic Mosh Pit Paintings

Last week we were obsessed with the work of Gregor Thielker, a hyperrealist painter whose muse was rainy day traffic. This week, thanks to Animal, we’ve discovered Dan Witz, a New York-based street artist whose amazing mosh pit portraits look like they have to be photographs — but are actually insanely-detailed paintings. Click through for a better look at his work (note prints are available for purchase), and you’ll almost swear that you can smell the sweaty crowds.

I totally agree and think this is well said. We compete in a sport. In sports there are winners and losers and folks of varying ability. That is just true. I think if people wnat to go to Boston they should work for it. Im not there yet and maybe Ill never be, but Im glad theyre making it hard.

if Norman Rockwell painted mosh pits...

...and then you go to his website to see more or better quality view of mosh pit series aaaand...nothing!... duh -_-

Painted on a photo copy...

(a) Not a 'painting' (b) Not that great, anything bigger than a thumbnail it looks really fake
