Okay, so we’re willing to accept not being in the top 10, but we’re fairly certain that we would have made the top 20. Darn the contemporary limited attention span. Oh wait, that’s our thing: http://www.shortfastanddeadly.com.

Black Pearls Magazine Online is a excellent suggestion for those who are interested in literature written by women and people of color. The magazine can be found at: http://www.blackpearlsmagazine.com

Black Pearls Magazine is a free digital magazine committed to inspire, encourage and empower a international group of readers. Our mission is to provide information that is essential, enlightening and entertaining.

Each year thousands of people — educators, concerned parents, community leaders, authors, poets and publishers — devote their time and resources to presenting the reader with great books! However, too many outstanding books do not get the attention and reader support that they deserve. It is our mission to connect readers with these hidden literary gems and bring them books that will change their lives.

“Based on the “each one teach one,” model, our goal is to help people introduce reading and new books to their family and friends,” says CEO and founder of EDC creations, Ella Curry. “Instead of giving expensive gifts that don’t shape lives — let’s “Give the Gift of Knowledge” and help to strengthen our future generations with quality books!”

But after finding Dorianne Laux, my former-but-always BOA Sister, Django, and Flavorwire’s endorsement [“top ten magazines to read onlineall on one page has left me resolved to be more scrupulous as regards BLIP. Cross my heart.

Of course, no list is complete without The Dead Mule as in “No good Southern fiction is complete without a dead mule.” Online since 1996. Yup, that’s real old in internet years.

Love the journals named here, and so proud of them for making this list. It’s lovely to see that internet-lit is thriving.

Great list; certainly one useful for us authors to see what respected publications are available for submissions. I’d like to add the Journal of Microliterature — http://www.microliterature.org — to your list. While I’ve yet to be accepted (I’ll keep trying!) it’s one of my favorite to read. Take special note of John McCann’s “Death Honk.”

[...] I had three high on my list. >kill author, which I was published in in February 2011, SmokeLong Quarterly and then PANK. In fact, both >kill author and PANK were listed in Flavorwire’s 2010 article: The 10 Online Lit Mags You Should be Reading.   [...]
