First you introduce yourself with an attempt to connect yourself to Devo, in order to bask in their reflected glory. "Hey! I knew a famous person once!"

But then in the very next breath you cut them down, implying that creativity ends at a certain age . That would be pathetic enough if it weren't for the fact that you've condemned yourself in the same breath.

I'm sure Devo wishes a backhanded "good luck" to you on your endeavors as well. And if they don't then I will.

I saw them in Central Park a couple of years ago and they were great. But why don't they get a new stage look?

I also remember Casale bringing up some band he had been in, called 15-60-75. I immediately got the math/music joke of 1-4-5, the basic chord progression of much of Rock Music (Louie Louie, etc.), and I was officially in, an it-getter that spoke their language.

Soon I was a musician living large and scattered, and our paths never managed to cross again, although until the mid-nineties I still had one of those yellow chem/industrial suits from their early shows that they gave me.

If they tour I'll check them out.

That was before Whip It, but I remember Pynchon being mentioned as God. Certainly no argument from me. I saw no sign whatsoever of drug use or drug culture on their bus, but the other bus was for the roadies and some band folk, and they called it "Willie Nelson's Tour Bus," indicating perhaps it was much more in line with the Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll Mythos of the era.
