Ivan Guerrero, aka whoiseyevan, is the gifted video editor who made that clever trailer for ”Ghost Busters” that you all emailed to each other a couple summers ago — you remember, the one that repurposed all the footage from the old movies so that Ghost Busters was a 1954 comedy starring Bob Hope, Fred MacMurray, and Martin and Lewis. He has turned out several more of these “premake” trailers in the interim; his latest “pre-magines” Up! as a 1960s Walt Disney live-action movie, in the style of The Love Bug or The Absent-Minded Professor.
Guerrero’s take on the 2010 Pixar flick features Spencer Tracy as Carl Fredericksen (perfect casting) and Kirk Douglas as Charles Muntz. As always, he’s helpful enough to provide the “recipe” for the faux-trailer: it consists of elements from Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, *batteries not included, The Red Balloon, Superman, The Wizard of Oz, The Muppet Movie, Follow Me Boys, Mackenna’s Gold, Benji, A Boy and His Dog, Mysterious Island, The Doberman Gang, The Alvin Show, Posse, One of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing, The Island at the Top of the World, Zeppelin, Stephen King’s It, Hollywood Hotel, Jonny Quest, Peter Pan’s Flight, Habanera from Carmen, and Always.
Are you as impressed by the end result as we are?
