Today at Flavorpill, we were charmed by Woody Guthrie’s handwritten New Year’s Resolutions and transfixed by “The External World,” the crazy new short from computer animation artist David O’Reilly. Our inner child rocked out to this inexplicable but fantastic Playmobil re-enactment of Joy Division performing “Transmission” and wrinkled up its nose at the idea of Play-Doh cologne. We allowed Esquire to school us in the art of literary seduction. As lifetime members of Team Sonic Youth, we were glad to hear Thurston Moore finally responded to Steve Albini’s “sellout” accusation. We enjoyed Zadie Smith’s thoughts on her new job as Harper’s book critic. We wanted to devour 100% of these statistical cookies. We agreed that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” single artwork is suspiciously similar to a Kyle Minogue cover from 2007. And finally, we were surprised and pleased to hear that X-Ray Spex legend Poly Styrene has a new album, Generation Indigo, coming out April 26. Watch the first video here.
