Pic of the Day: Light Painting WiFi Networks

A group of urban design researchers in Norway have produced images and video mapping “the invisible terrain” of WiFi networks by light painting their signal strength in long-exposure photographs. “During a few weeks of walking, measuring and photographing we visualized a number of networks in the Grünerløkka area in Oslo,” they explain. “The visualizations illustrate how WiFi networks in this neighborhood are ubiquitous, but also fragmented and qualitatively different.” Check out additional photos, along with their short film on the project, after the jump.
