Sign #189473 that the ’90s are back: MTV has announced that it’s reviving its alt-rock series 120 Minutes, which was canceled in 2003, with a host those of us who grew up in that decade will certainly remember — Matt Pinfield. Of course, the music video-heavy show doesn’t exactly fit in with MTV’s 2011 programming, so it makes sense that it will appear on MTV2 instead. “I know how much the show meant to me, and it means so much to know how much it meant to other people, too. I was a fan of the show before I ever hosted it,” said Pinfield, who helmed 120 Minutes from 1995-1999 and is best known for his encyclopedic musical knowledge.
MTV’s parent company, Viacom, certainly seems to be making the most of the ’90s nostalgia vogue. Along with bringing back Beavis and Butt-Head, sister station Nickelodeon is planning to air shows like Clarissa Explains It All and Salute Your Shorts in a late-night block called The ’90s Are All That. Considering it was first on our list of ’90s MTV shows that should make a comeback, we’re obviously psyched for the return of 120 Minutes.
