With his new film, POM Wonderful Presents the Greatest Movie Ever Sold, hitting theaters next Friday, Morgan Spurlock is already making the publicity rounds. He showed up on The Colbert Report this week sporting a blazer tricked out with the logos of all the corporations who are sponsoring his advertising-funded documentary about advertising in media. But Spurlock’s also got some non-traditional marketing schemes up his for-hire sleeve: Cinema Blend reports that the filmmaker has purchased the right to rename Altoona, PA. For 60 days, beginning April 27th, the city will be known as POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold. Altoona’s City Council unanimously supported the temporary name change, with Mayor Bill Schirf adding, “Clearly, the people of Altoona have a sense of humor… and an asking price.” Watch the Greatest Movie Ever Sold trailer here.
