It may still technically be spring, but today still qualifies as of those beautiful, summer Fridays — sunny, warm, and just begging an outdoor happy hour come five ‘o’ clock. We’re psyching ourselves up for the weekend by nodding along to our favorite hot-weather jams (including this new one by Nicki Minaj). If you’re looking to compile a playlist of your own, BuzzFeed’s compilation of a whopping 70 years’ worth of summer anthems is a great place to start. Or you could just space out in front of the word cloud above, which Vulture created using the lyrics from the songs on BuzzFeed’s list, beginning in 1980 (Blondie’s “Call Me”) and wrapping up with last year’s inescapable Katy Perry confection, “California Gurls.” Apparently “love” is a big deal in the summer or something.
