Let’s be honest with ourselves: The Oprah Winfrey Show has been off the air for over five months now, and no one has stepped up to fill Oprah’s stylish yet sensible shoes. Until, maybe, now. ArtsBeat reports that Queen Latifah is developing her own syndicated talk show, which should be ready to air in 2013. Sony Pictures will be producing the series, in collaboration with Latifah’s own Flavor Unit Entertainment and her longtime friend Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. We’re hoping the new show will be more successful than The Queen Latifah Show, which ran from 1999 through 2001 and billed itself as “Dear Abby for the Hip-Hop Generation.” Latifah’s profile is certainly higher these days – Chicago, which launched her to mainstream film stardom, came out in 2002 — so perhaps the time is finally right for one of our favorite rapper/actresses to share her wisdom with the world.
