David Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’ Cover Shoot: The Outtakes

Share:

Mick Rock may be the photographer most famously associated with David Bowie, but, as the extensive archive on his website confirms, Brian Duffy also shot his fair share of iconic Bowie portraits. Undoubtedly the best-known of these is the late British photographer’s Aladdin Sane album cover, which features Ziggy Stardust in full make-up, with a bold lightning bolt over one eye and a mysterious, clear liquid dripping from his clavicle. Of course, this is hardly the only photo to come out of that session, and How to Be a Retronaut has located quite a few others — including a contact sheet that we at Flavorpill HQ have been scheming to transform into wallpaper. Enjoy the Aladdin Sane outtakes after the jump.
