What’s On at Flavorpill: The Links That Made the Rounds in Our Office

Today at Flavorpill, we listened to “World Go Boom,” this year’s installment of DJ Earworm’s mashup of the 25 most popular songs from the past 12 months. We learned 25 things that we didn’t already know about the 1971 cult classic Harold and Maude. We were worried about what this cool, interactive coffee poster would reveal about how much caffeine we consume. We tried to correctly ID all of the movies in this minimalist ’80s Film Alphabet poster by UK designer Stephen Wildish. We read some interesting suggestions from Apartment Therapy on how to store your books. We got a surprising look at what the original Metropolitan Museum of Art looked like. We were treated to a very tiny Scrubs reunion, as well as a seasonal song from Zach Braff and Donald Faison. We wanted this robotarm to DJ our next party — at least until our guests couldn’t take it anymore. We were convinced that all of these people who like to swim on Christmas Day are totally nuts. We wondered which of our favorite TV shows is about to lose its lead actor. We got a little misty-eyed over Stereogum’s roundup of the bands we lost in 2011. And finally, we were kind of glad that there were no drunk uncles at any of our holiday celebrations — as these photos and status updates prove, those guys can be such wild cards.
