Amusing Accidental Tweets from Popular Twitter Accounts

Twitter. It’s accessible on your computers, on your tablets, on your smartphones, on your dumbphones. Technology is making it easier and easier for us to be constantly tweeting, and with these advances comes the increased likelihood of frequent Twitter “accidents.” Y’know — publishing a public tweet that was meant to be private, posting from the wrong account, uploading the wrong photo. Twitter mistakes happen to the best of us, but if you’re a well-followed tweeter, you’re pretty much doomed to an Internet lifetime of pasted quotes, haunting screenshots, and silly lists like this. Let’s take a break from the pesky accidental Twitter antics of overeager politicians and focus on the humorous accidents of several celebrated Twitter accounts. Check ’em out after the jump.

Charlie Sheen gives Justin Bieber — and everyone — his number

Last month, fans and pranksters alike were presented with quite the fun surprise — ten delightful digits that amounted to none other than Charlie Sheen’s phone number. The tweet was intended to be a direct message to Justin Bieber, but Sheen apparently clicked a few wrong buttons and submitted the number for the world to enjoy. Those who jumped at the opportunity were treated to Sheen’s antics, as he apparently shouted things like, “Winning!” and “Ray’s Pizza!” at the first callers. Did anyone pretend to be Justin Bieber? Why are these two in cahoots?

Stealth Mountain corrects Judd Apatow

Although Judd Apatow’s misspelling of “sneak peek” is nothing compared to the constant grammatical Twitter offenses of other celebrities, the director recently fell victim to one of our favorite new novelty accounts — @StealthMountain. Stealth Mountain, armed with its peak of a mountainous mascot, sneaks up and corrects every tweet that mistakenly reads “sneak peak” instead of the intended “sneak peek.” After receiving the typical, “I think you mean ‘sneak peek'” tweet from good ol’ Stealth Mountain, Apatow blamed the mistake on medication. Doesn’t this Twitter account seem like something a clever Apatow character would manage?

AnnaLynne McCord’s TwitPic nip slip

“Accidental” tweets might be in season, because 90210 actress AnnaLynne McCord sent a TwitPic of her nipple (TwitNip?) to a fan alongside the message, “This is for you @meganraee You rock! Xxx A.” McCord eventually apologized for her “mistake” and cropped the photo (as seen above), but not before Twitter was astir with AnnaLynne-based boob babble.

The Red Cross gets slizzerd

The best accidental tweets are the ones that are born when an employee forgets to log out of a popular company Twitter account. The Red Cross handled this one like a pro, responding with the followup tweet, “We’ve deleted the rogue tweet but rest assured the Red Cross is sober and we’ve confiscated the keys.”

Tori Spelling’s topless photobomb

Here’s another Twitter picture faux pas, courtesy of Dean McDermott, Liam McDermott, and Tori Spelling’s chest. Dean accidentally tweeted this picture of his son without realizing that Tori’s, er — photobombs were in the background. On a related note, there seems to be a shirt shortage among 90210 cast members past and present.

Twitter’s favorite song

Here’s another fun situation where an employee forgot to log out of a company’s Twitter, except this time Twitter was both the medium and the company. The tweet led followers to believe that Twitter adored itself some Enrique Iglesias, but the mistake was quickly corrected and the offending contributor fessed up, tweeting, “I shouldn’t assume ALL of TWITTER appreciates the musical stylings of Enrique Iglesias the way I do.” Yes you should, Maggie Utgoff. Yes you should.

Hayley Williams “gets hacked”

And the most deliberate breast shot in celebrity Twitter history goes to Hayley Williams of Paramore, who accidentally tweeted this topless photograph. She brushed the incident off with, “Got hacked” and proceeded to top charts by lending vocals on B.o.B’s “Airplanes.” Well played.

Even the Secret Service can’t stand Fox News

It’s pretty funny to think that the Secret Service has a Twitter in the first place, and it’s even funnier that one of its contributors once accidentally tweeted this. From an iPad, no less.
