Oddly Seductive Oil Paintings of Bodies in Motion [NSFW]

The women in these “overlapping image” paintings by Korean artist Ho Ryon Lee are not frozen in time. Rather, they bend over to fasten their shoes, readjust their skirts, and slowly slide into their stockings. They carelessly drape themselves over furniture, dance around with no pants on, and pedal their bikes with reckless abandon. To create the illusion of movement, Lee takes photos of his models in set poses, and then pieces together a composite out of the various shots in Photoshop. The resulting images serve as the source material for his oil paintings on canvas. While the desire in his works is palpable, Lee’s ladies are seemingly oblivious to the effect that their subtle, almost dreamlike movements have on the viewer. Click through to fall under their spell, frame by frame.
