Today at Flavorpill, we previewed a fascinating collection of Roger Ballen’s photographs. We listened to YouTube star Ted Williams perform a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” We visited a few untapped fashion trends from the 1990s. We saw a great photo of Roman Polanski at the first New York Film Festival in 1963. Speaking of the director, we also loved his new Prada commercial starring Helena Bonham Carter and Sir Ben Kingsley. We hoped this documentary about The New Beverly Cinema would finally get funded. We discovered how to sleep better. We visited a 1936 ballet school. We watched one creative person turn a giant jawbreaker into a shot glass. We read what Hemingway had to say about “The Lady Poets.” We went to the National Stationary Show thanks to Design Sponge. And finally, we entered the nine circles of hell in Lego form. We hope this is as close as we ever get.
