THR reports that Foo Fighters’ shaggy-haired drummer Taylor Hawkins has been cast as forever-shirtless music icon Iggy Pop in the upcoming CBGB biopic directed by Randall Miller. Filming starts June 25 in Savannah, before moving to New York where the club existed at 315 Bowery from 1973 until it closed its doors in 2006.
Hawkins joins the also newly announced Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki as music manager Terry Ork and The Borgias actress Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith. Steven Schub (Chicago 8) as Dee Dee Ramone; Evan Alex Cole (She’s Outta My League) as Richard Hell; Peter Vack (I Just Want My Pants Back) as Legs McNeil; and Kerry Bische (Red State) as Mary Harron join them. Stars Alan Rickman — who plays owner Kristal — Malin Akerman, Joel David Moore, Stana Katic, and Rupert Grint will also be making appearances.
