The AV Club’s excellent web series Pop Pilgrims just kicked off its second season with an interesting clip that goes inside of St. John’s, the Houston-based prep school more famously known as Rushmore Academy in Wes Anderson’s 1998 cult classic. As it turns out, it also happens to be the same school that the filmmaker himself attended back in the day; he looked at several locations, but ultimately realized that the story he had been picturing in his head needed to take place at his alma mater. Click through to take a quick tour of the elite institution where Max Fischer spent so much time starting up clubs and putting on plays — and to get the scoop from a former classmate on what Anderson was like before he became a noted auteur!
