It’s been less than two weeks since we learned that Andy Samberg is leaving Saturday Night Live, but we’ve already got some news on what the Lonely Island co-founder is doing next. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Samberg is slated to co-star with The Inbetweeners‘ Greg Davies in Cuckoo, a six-part comedy series for BBC Three that will air before the year is out. Executive produced by Ash Atalla, who already has such international successes as The Office and The IT Crowd under his belt, the show finds Davies’ Ken and his wife getting the surprise of their life when their daughter returns from a gap year with her new husband — Samberg’s Cuckoo, who the BBC describes as a “slacker full of outlandish, New Age ideas.” This is a sitcom set-up as old as All in the Family, but the talent involved is promising, and it sure looks like a better option for Samberg fans than the comedian’s dire-looking Adam Sandler movie, That’s My Boy.
