Although he made his name with campy comedies like Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, beloved Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar has spent the past decade or so making darker, more serious movies. But for the follow up to his relatively unsuccessful 2011 psychological thriller The Skin I Live In, Almodóvar is returning to a familiar form. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that his new film, I’m So Excited, will be a comedy starring Spanish actors Javier Cámara, Cecilia Roth, and Lola Dueñas and featuring “special collaborations” — whatever that means — with Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas, and Paz Vega meant to pull in an international audience. Sony Pictures Classics will distribute the movie, which is set to shoot in July and debut next summer.
