Vampire sex and self-congratulatory, “clever-fake click-clackity dialogue” (as dubbed by writer Bret Easton Ellis on Twitter last night) are returning to HBO. The network has picked up True Blood and The Newsroom for new seasons.
This will be round six for Alan Ball’s melodrama about bloodsuckers, werewolves, and other sex-crazed, supernatural fiends stalking small-town Louisiana for a roll in the hay. Judging by this season’s southern-style Grand Guignol of messy what-the-heckness, we’re guessing next season will be… something.
Aaron Sorkin’s new drama at a cable TV news outfit starring Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer drew a record 2.1 million viewers, making it one of HBO’s most-watched series premieres, according to USA Today. Sorry, Ellis, expect more “Neil Simon on crack” in your near future.
