Today at Flavorpill, we tried to guess what prophetic utterances were from British Vogue, Game of Thrones, and The Book of Revelation. We found out what famous literary characters were almost named. We looked at tattoos couples covered themselves in and hoped they were still in a relationship. We celebrated James Bond’s style. We braced ourselves for Nude Recreation Week. We waved goodbye to the cancelled TV shows from the past year. We thought The Aikiu’s video “Pieces Of Gold” made excellent use of vintage porn. We watched a poem for Buster Keaton. We listened to what Mike Wallace had to say about MoMA’s Op Art group show, The Responsive Eye in 1965. We found a space on our walls for this taxidermy head of Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent. We tried hard not to bankrupt ourselves during Criterion’s massive sale at Barnes & Noble. And finally, we hoped that we never accidentally send a photo of Nicolas Cage to anyone important. If we did, we at least hope they could quote Vampire‘s Kiss and 2009′s Bad Lieutenant with equal amusement.
