Los Angeles concert promoter Goldenvoice, the folks behind Southern California’s Coachella, are apparently expanding the event from the desert to the ocean. The New York Times reports that attendees will have the opportunity to swig wine with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and enjoy extra long sets aboard the S.S. Coachella come December. The ship holds 2,800 fans, has its own theater, features a half-acre of grass, and prices ($500-$9,000 per person) include lodging, food, and entertainment — but no bar tabs. The cruise liner is readying for two saltwater voyages that set sail from Fort Lauderdale — a three-day trip to the Bahamas and a four-day stay in sunny Jamaica. The Caribbean event includes acts Pulp, Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells, James Murphy, Girl Talk, Yeasayer, Grimes, Cloud Nothings — and a handful of names have yet to be announced. As much as we wouldn’t mind being trapped on a boat with Jarvis Cocker, we’re not convinced that the world needed another cruise of this sort.
