We’re all a little movie sequel-weary in 2012, but here’s one project we won’t complain about: John Cameron Mitchell is making a follow-up feature to his instant sing-along cult classic Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The announcement comes courtesy of journalist Kevin Sessums, who writes at his Tumblr, “I had coffee-and-conversation this morning here in Greenwich Village with my old friend John Cameron Mitchell… He is busy putting the finishing touches on his first draft of a Hedwig sequel and will be doing a reading and recreating the role of Hedwig on September 16th at a special performance at this year’s Afterglow Festival in Provincetown.” Sessums also reports that composer Stephen Trask, who contributed those great glam-rock show tunes to the first film, is back on board for the sequel. We assume more details will be forthcoming soon, but in the mean time, excuse us while we put on our makeup, turn up the eight-track, and pull the wig down from the shelf. [via Vulture]
