No True Blood character is more beloved than Lafayette Reynolds, who was slated to die at the end of the first season but is still around and getting into trouble as a medium thanks to his massive popularity among the show’s fans — which is, more than anything, due to Nelsan Ellis’ likable and nuanced performance in the role. So we’re thrilled and intrigued to learn that the actor has been cast in a very prestigious film role: Deadline reports that he will play none other than Martin Luther King, Jr. in The Butler, Lee Daniels’ forthcoming movie about a butler who worked in the White House for three decades. He joins an all-star cast that includes Liam Neeson, John Cusack, Nicole Kidman, Alan Rickman, Forest Whitaker, Melissa Leo, and Robin Williams, among other big names.
