Portraits of Origami Animals by Marc Fichou

Every ex-creative child has at one time nursed an origami habit — or at least it was a big hit for a little while there in middle school. However, Marc Fichou’s charming Origamis series, which we spotted over at Faith is Torment, is a little more advanced, at least in concept. Fichou explains that his “intention here is to create a piece where the image cannot be separated from its referent, thus creating a visual link between past and present.” Indeed, each origami animal is presented on photographic paper that was folded and unfolded in its own image, creating a final piece that is both photographic and sculptural. Click through to see a few of our favorites from Fichou’s series, and then be sure to head over to his website to check out even more of his work.
