The SNL cast has been a tennis match of beloved show regulars departing — including Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliott — and new talent signing on. Funnyman Jason Sudeikis’ exit was still undecided, however, even just a few days ago. According to Laughspin (via Pop Culture Brain), an updated cast listing on the show website indicates that the actor will be returning to the show for its 38th season on September 15. This means we’ll be treated to another round of Mitt Romney impersonations alongside newcomers Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson, and Cecily Strong. (Get to know the Chicago comedians through some clips over here.) Since SNL premieres this weekend, it’s probably safe to say this report is the real deal, but we suppose stranger things have happened. We wonder if this means he’ll be getting that title change he was after, which he hoped would allow him to flex some underused “creative muscles.” Will you be tuning in to watch Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and musical guest Frank Ocean?
