Hear Kanye West Reference Kurt Cobain on "White Dress"

Other outlets will surely bury the lead, so here is what you need to know about the one-minute preview of Kanye West’s “White Dress” that’s surfaced online: There’s a Nirvana reference. In one of hip hop’s most random lyrical juxtapositions, he raps, “You like piña coladas, gettin’ caught in the rain/ Or rockin’ flannels all summer like Kurt Cobain.” Also, there is some stuff about how everyone has an opinion on West’s sex life — which is really emerging as a major theme in his music of late.

The song, produced by RZA, will appear on the soundtrack to the Wu-Tang member’s debut film, The Man with the Iron Fists. And while you might be tempted to speculate that title has something to do with his high-profile relationship with Kim Kardashian, RZA recently told MTV News that it’s “basically talking about some of these girls, you know you maybe want to make a wife out of them, but they gotta get it together.” So, if it is about Kardashian, we can’t imagine she’ll take it as a compliment. The soundtrack is due out October 26th; hear the “White Dress” clip at Pusha T’s website. [via NME]
