The fusion of art and technology can create all sorts of interesting and unexpected results, and “Laws of Attractor”, a series of generative portraits by Catalan artist Sergio Albiac, ticks both boxes at once. It might be best to let the artist himself explain what’s going on here: “Programmed emotional responses to face recognition,” reads his tersely worded artist’s statement at Behance. “Generative series of portraits using a mixture of generative collage, digital inks and accidental glitches. A coded revision of traditional techniques.” Quite how the generative aspect works isn’t entirely clear, but there’s no arguing with the results, which are pretty impressive.
