Have you ever felt like dancing in the street? The subjects of Jordan Matter’s Dancers Among Us series are probably doing it better than you. The inspiration for the project, Matter says, came from watching his three-year-old son deep in rapturous play. “ What happens to this enthusiasm, this ability to be wholly present in the moment?” he asks. “Why are these pure moments of passion so often replaced with cynicism, boredom, and indifference? As I played with my son, I thought about creating photographs that would show the world as if through his eyes. The people in the images would be alive and in the moment, celebrating all aspects and emotions of everyday life.” Join us: aww. We featured a few of Matter’s photographs last year, but we’ve recently spotted some lovely new work in association with his recently published book, Dancers Among Us: A Celebration of the Everyday.
