Well, that didn’t last long at all. Earlier today we passed along the strange-but-true news that the State Department had invited Andrew W.K. to the US embassy in Bahrain as part of a cultural exchange; now a spokesperson is telling DCist that the trip planned for next week is longer happening. The official explanation: “The embassy determined that was probably not a best choice and didn’t meet our standards.” As you can imagine, Andrew W.K. — who had been very excited about his upcoming adventure — was not thrilled by the news. “I’m just blown away,” he tweeted. “After a year of planning, the US State Dept. just canceled my Middle East trip because I’m too party.” [via Pitchfork]
