Since Joss Whedon pretty much owned 2012, it’s exciting to learn that his upcoming adaptation of William Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing will be released in theaters starting June 7, 2013. The wide release happens later that month on June 21, according to the good folks at The Playlist. The most interesting part of this news is that The Avengers director’s art house take on the classic story about sparring lovers will be up against some major blockbuster titles — including the highly anticipated Man of Steel (opening June 14), along with World War Z and Pixar’s Monsters University (both opening June 21), to name a few. Can Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Nathan Fillion, Fran Kranz, Jillian Morgese, Sean Maher, Clark Gregg, and Reed Diamond kill it at the box office in a black-and-white film that took less than two weeks to shoot? We’re voting maybe, possibly, yes.
