Last month, we found out that deadpan funnyman Stephen Colbert would be making a cameo in the upcoming Peter Jackson adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. If you’ve followed the comedian for any length of time, then you probably know what a huge Tolkien geek Colbert is. He understands Elvish and isn’t above playing with Lord of the Rings action figures on live television. It makes sense then that The Colbert Report will be presenting a multi-day, Hobbit-themed program from December 3 to December 6, celebrating the December 14 release of Jackson’s movie. According to the A.V. Club, guests will include: Ian McKellan (December 3), Martin Freeman (December 4), Andy Serkis (December 6), and Jackson himself (December 5). The director has stated that Colbert is the biggest Tolkien geek he’s ever met, and we’re hoping to learn more about the host’s part in the upcoming film.
