Similarly, the fact that Rihanna appearing topless on her own album cover is somehow controversial is a kinda depressing state of affairs, but controversial it definitely was. Sigh.

How was the Bat for Lashes cover controversial?  Yes it uses nudity - which is not exactly new or shocking at this point - but not really in a "trying to be edgy" way and more to the point I don't remember any actual controversy about that cover at all.  Was there any?  Or is this article an attempt to manufacture it?

@bcmaggie Well, yes, that's kinda the point. The fact that these covers were controversial is more a reflection on society's underlying conservatism toward any sort of nudity etc etc than on the covers themselves
