Issa Rae (of Awkward Black Girl fame) has teamed up with Tatyana Ali to produce the new web series Black Actress, which will tell the story of trying to break into Hollywood as a black actress. It’s well known that punk is another “scene” that’s notoriously tough to break into if you’re not male, hence The A.V. Club’s tribute to the ladies of the riot grrrl movement. But hey, if you think sexism and racism are tough, let’s not forget ableism! Typographer Sam Barclay has created a beautifully designed coffee table book designed to provide insight into what reading is like for dyslexics. It’s also got to be pretty tough to be a lesser superhero. Those guys could use some respect too, right?
