As joniwriter says, the attitude and annoyance isn't necessary – especially given the clumsy typo in the last sentence; "…wouldn't given you"? What does that mean? Furthermore, "authors" should have a possessive apostrophe; "author's".

A quick re-read would have enabled you to evade such hypocrisy.

I'm sure the author appreciates the correction, but the attitude and annoyance isn't necessary. In fact, such proofreading mistakes are simply another reason why books like "The art of slowness" are getting so much attention in this age of 24/7 blogging, texting and tweeting. We all need a chance to slow down a bit, or learn to put up with these kinds of mistakes.

If you’re going to report on a book club, at least get the authors names right. Memoirs of Hadrian was written by Marguerite Yourcenar, not “Margaret Yourcner”. A quick search on Amazon wouldn’t given you that fact.
