Evocative Photos of Istanbul at Night

Share:

Strange, wonderful, and dare we say, magical things happen under the cloak of night. The photography series White Lies brings this to light, exploring the intimate and vulnerable moments in the lives of Istanbul’s residents. The use of black and white connects each person across the series. The photos are quiet pauses: couples in love, people struggling to survive, a man and his dog. Photographer Ali Sureyya Torun hopes to call attention to “human themes” in the work — perhaps, here, showing us that nighttime can feel ominous, but also hopeful.
