Design Porn: The Art of Twilight

Hey, Anne Rice. You may claim to understand why Twilight fans are so die-hard about this fictional love story, but can you explain this? After reading all four books, seeing the first movie about a thousand times, and shelling out millions of dollars on all sort of paraphernalia (DVDs, throw pillows, vampire-inspired sex toys!) it looks like the wait for the sequel to hit theaters has proved too much for some. To cope they’ve developed hobbies to pass the time. And guess what? You can buy the fruits of their labor! From paintings, to jewelry, to footwear, we’ve compiled the very best of the very worst of Twilight fan art.

One very intrepid Twilight fan has taken her love of everything Cullen and decided that the best way to express her love of the movie was on her feet: presenting hand-painted “Team Edward” Converse Chuck Taylors, complete with decorative box and a “freebie.” Your shoes may have been featured in People Magazine, but wearing Robert Pattinson’s likeness in acrylic paints on your kicks? Dealbreaker.

But say that sneakers aren’t really your thing? You’re more of a Doc Martens girl. Well, everyone showers. May we suggest some glow-in-the-dark Twilight soap? You can walk down to Hot Topic feeling fresh (and smelling like “the spooky sweet Dragon’s Blood fragrance”), and let everyone know just which vampire holds the keys to your heart and claimed dibs on your sense of reason. Did we mention that it’s vegan-friendly?

We know there are those true die-hards who don’t think adorning their bodies is enough of a statement. You need to make sure your home is a reflection of your eternal love, too! Her online handle is alicexz, she’s a digital artist, and although she may have some competition from the shoe-painting chick up above this girl seems just a wee bit more legit when it comes to having, you know, actual skills. Just $50 for her commission fee then you’re well on your way to the vampire painting of your dreams. The only caveat? “I highly prefer to do waist up portraits.”

We shudder at the thought of the alternative.

We’re too sad to write. “This Bow is made just for the tween girl in your life, You pick the ‘Heartthrob’ send me the pic and I will make her a bow with his picture in the center! This one has Taylor Lautner aka (Jacob Black) in the center. All of my bows are made of high quality ribbon, heat sealed to prevent fraying, and crush resistant!”

And finally, there’s the question of how to pay for all of this wonderment. Any true fan of the franchise knows one need reach no farther than her Twilight Checkbook Cover, emblazoned with an image of Edward and Bella and this romantic Twilight quote: “Look after my heart, I’ve left it with you.” But wait. It doesn’t come with checks? No matter, true love for Twilight conquers all.
