Twitter and the blogosphere are starting to go abuzz with a video shot at a Miley Cyrus concert in Kentucky. In it, the pop star replaces a lyric from one of her songs with a gay slur. Innocent mistake? Or yet another example of this girl’s innate prejudices?
This isn’t the first time that Cyrus has been accused of being discriminatory. Last February there were accusations that she was racist after a photo of her making “slanty-eyes” circulated, generating headlines in major news outlets. After apologizing for the photo, claiming that she was just making a “goofy face” and that the media had taken it out of context, the controversy died down and her career survived without so much as a scratch. It seems odd that Cyrus would stir the pot up again intentionally, and risk alienating part of her core demographic.
It hasn’t gone unnoticed that flippant use of the phrase “that’s so gay” runs rampant with American teenagers, even prompting celebrity-sponsored PSAs on the issue. Maybe the fact of the matter is that Miley is, at 16, just acting her age. And if she isn’t, and the phrase came out of her mouth unintentionally, then let’s at least hope she does a better job of apologizing to her gay fans who found this incident offensive than she did to her Asian fans who found that photo offensive.
Here’s the video of her making the slur via SistersTalk:
What do you think? Does this seem like the kind of thing a pop star with a large gay following — who allegedly supports gay marriage — would do? Is this just another flub being taken out of context and being blown out of proportion? Or is the internet — or maybe the Gay Mafia and Hilary Duff? — conspiring against her?

The lyrics of the song are “You’re vain, you’re games….” Get your fucking facts straight before you put it on the web you mindless lump of shit
stop acting like such a bitch junky
people grow the hell up already. that song is about nick jonas and if she said it he probably did something and it was meant towards him for godsake get a life and bother people like criminals who need bothering. if i was this childs parents i would let the media have it
And if I was the media I would let this child’s parents have it.
And if I had a brick I’d let her have it…in her chopsy mouth
Piss The Gays off and you can kiss your record sales goodbye… just ask Donna Summer.
As a gay I will say 2 things:
1. It happened so fast that had I not been listening for it I’d have missed it.
2. She very well could have been saying “your games” as are the lyrics. It’s like listening to supposed ghost voices on EVP’s…you’re going to hear what you want to hear.
wow, just reading these comments on here (“eat my shit this is NOT news…leave Miley alone”, and “Get your fucking facts straight before you put it on the web you mindless lump of shit”) ,such language on here for wholesome Miley Cyrus fans. But I just noticed those were posted by the same person, so nevermind. Yes I am judging, I don’t even care about Miley C. and found myself reading this post, so it was a good PR move on her part, and will help sell albums to rebellious teenagers/middle schoolers (or homosexuals or whoever actually listens to this stuff) whose parents think Miley C is a bad racist, homophobe girl, who;s a bad influence on people.
miley is a ghost? grow up world, it doesn’t matter what she says, once you censor what people can say in fiction(yes song lyrics are fiction), well, lets all go and live in russia for god’s sake already, you are all acting like a bunch of booty men and booty women.I mean really, I feel like I am taken crazy pills when I read the news. crazy booty men and booty women
The song is called “7 Things” and if you check the lyrics it’s definitely “your games”.
Maybe Im the only person who has noticed this, but it really seems like people are being overly sensitive as of the past few years. Kids cant make faces without someone getting offended. Someone says gay in a context that doesnt involve them opening up about their sexuality and people get offended. There are much more important things going on in the world to get up in arms over. Miley Cyrus isnt one of them.
This isnt what she said.
i was there, she said “your games”
