Marisa Tomei has joined the growing cast of Empire’s season two with a recurring role as lesbian billionaire Mimi Whiteman. According to Deadline, she’s “a lover of hip hop music, social trends, [and] high-end fashion.” And “beautiful women,” of course. Whiteman becomes involved in the Lyon family drama, because drama. So far, the series has cast Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, and Adam Rodriguez as guest stars in the 18-episode season. All we want to know is who will Cookie fight first. Tomei has mostly appeared in movies for the past decade. She will, however, play feminist leader Gloria Steinem in an HBO miniseries and is producing the project with lucky-to-be-married-to-a-woman-smarter-than-him actor George Clooney.
