“If God exists, then why did he make ugly people?” asks Ben Stiller’s Derek Zoolander in the too-short teaser for the long-awaited sequel Zoolander 2.
The 2001 film Zoolander found a cult following thanks to its goofy satire about the fashion industry, transforming what could have been forgettable dumb comedy into a showcase for some of Stiller, Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor, Milla Jovovich, Will Ferrell, and company’s best funnies.
We don’t get much from the clip featuring voice synthesiser-style narration, but we do know that the sequel unites the old players with a few new faces, including those of Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig (yes!), and Cyrus Arnold. Cameos from Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Willie Nelson are expected. Stiller spoke about Zoolander 2 in a 2011 interview:
It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe… it’s basically Derek and Hansel… though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them.
Zoolander 2 struts into theaters on February 12, 2016.
