French stylist and journalist Nathalie Croquet answers a simple question in her Spoof series: could someone who isn’t a supermodel pull that off? Croquet takes real-life high fashion ads, the kind that make up every other page of newsstand glossies, and recreates them with a professional hair, makeup, and photography team – using herself as a model. By inserting a middle-aged, non-professionally beautiful body into these idealized images, Croquet creates photos that do everything from parody the ads’ setup to demonstrate what fashion magazines might look like if they featured a wider range of bodies.
