The Weeknd Has a Bizarrely Eventful Day in the Desert in “Tell Your Friends” Video

The Weeknd has shared the music video for the Kanye West co-produced track “Tell Your Friends” in anticipation of the Friday release of his LP, Beauty Behind the Madness. (He’s already revealed the videos for four of Beauty‘s other tracks, “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Often,” “Earned It,” and “The Hills”.) “Tell Your Friends” sees Abel Tesfaye digging a ditch in the middle of the desert, and throwing a body into it — the body happens to be singing, through its body bag, along to the song, with the implication that he’s burying another version of himself.

He does a little dance against the open terrain, perhaps to shake himself of his former self. But as if self-burial and desert-dancing weren’t enough action/exhaustion for one day, he then walks through the desert towards a skeletal, androgynous, flame-haired figure, whom he shoots dead before proceeding to his car and driving off through the blank slate of the desert night.
