Forget ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ — Brooklyn’s Bushwig Captured the Real Faces of Drag in 2015

This weekend saw the fourth annual iteration of the Bushwig Festival of Drag, Music, and Love in Brooklyn, NY, featuring 25 bands and 125 drag queen performers over three days of festivities. The fest kicked off on Friday at Lovegun in Williamsburg, with a celebration called “Mz. Bushwig 2015” — where, it seemed, everyone was having too much fun to actually bestow the title on a winner. (The crown was bestowed upon the performer Aja later in the weekend.)

We sent intrepid photographer Jeanette D. Moses into the fray to survey the scene and capture the queens in their native environment. They did not disappoint.
