I used to work as a stage tech at UCLA. Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, the Italian theatre company, came by with a show that included live dogs onstage (sometimes they poop), a live horse onstage that would have words painted on its side (sometimes it pooped), sulfuric acid that was used for a visual gag and was spilled all over the stage by one of their own cast members, and (the worst) a fresh cow head that was crushed in a vice during the show. This was only because California doesn't allow beheading a horse for art. Apparently cows are fine. My job was to mop up the cow blood after the show. And I'm a fuckin' vegetarian.
