Either Peter Jackson Is Directing an Episode of ‘Doctor Who’ or He’s the World’s Greatest Troll

Peter Jackson teased that he will direct an episode of Doctor Who next season.

Jackson broke the news Monday with a funny little video on Facebook. In the clip, Peter Capaldi, the Doctor himself, visits Jackson and his daughter, Katie, at their New Zealand home to deliver the Lord of The Rings director his contract.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has said he’s contacted Jackson about directing an episode for the show’s upcoming tenth season, but the connection has not been confirmed.

At no point does Jackson directly state that he’s joined forces with Moffat, though the tongue-in-cheek clip is highly suggestive. On the other hand, Jackson has an annotated copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion prominently on his table for the duration of the show, so he’s clearly trying to get a rise out of as many fans as possible.
