Watch Aretha Franklin Pay Tribute to a Flabbergasted Carole King with a Performance of “Natural Woman”

Whenever Aretha Franklin turns up at an awards ceremony, especially in a fur coat to end all fur coats, she’s going to be the high point of the evening. With due respect to George Lucas, Cicely Tyson, and, um, the President, last night’s Kennedy Center Honors were no exception.

In honor (see what I did there?!) of legendary singer Carole King, Franklin, now 73, sang “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman” to a suitably flattered King, who starts visibly freaking out the moment Franklin begins to sing. Even No Drama Obama can be spotted wiping a tear from his eye about 45 seconds in.

Watch the full, awe-inspiring performance below, and feel free to share with the requisite number of heart-eyes emoji.
