Starz’s series adaptation of Steven Soderbergh’s The Girlfriend Experience is the subject of a new featurette that explores the life of a Chicago law student (Riley Keough) who becomes a call girl, providing a “girlfriend experience” to her clientele. Starz just announced that the series will premiere on Sunday, April 10 at 8PM.
There will be 13 half-hour episodes, made simultaneously available for Starz subscribers. Soderbergh executive produced the drama series, which explores the emotional/sexual highs and lows of Keough’s character’s new world. If The Girlfriend Experience is anything like Starz’s gritty, melodramatic ballet series Flesh and Bone, then we don’t expect them to hold back. “We believe the provocative world created by Steven, Lodge and Amy, coupled with an absolutely mesmerizing performance by Riley Keough in the lead role will make ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ difficult to turn off,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement.
