Killer Mike Rebuts Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Critique of Bernie Sanders’ Reparations Comment

Killer Mike will not tolerate any perceived insults slung at his pal Bernie Sanders, not even from National Book Award winner and esteemed cultural critic Ta-Nehisi Coates.

Coates took Sanders to task for stating he’s against slavery reparations for African American in a column published on The Atlantic Tuesday. Specifically, Coates argued that Sanders’ pragmatic response flies in the face of his other policy platforms.

Mike, who endorsed and interviewed Sanders in 2015, responded Wednesday morning in a series of tweets calling out pundits who took the piece as, in his words, “a death nail” for the extremely liberal campaign.

Mike pointed out that singling out Sanders for not supporting reparations seems unfair, given that most candidates have never even been asked to address the issue.

Mike said he strongly supports reparations, and took the opportunity to share more than a few tweets about his views on the topic, as well as why Sanders may be the best candidate for those who support them.

Meanwhile, The New Yorker’s Jelani Cobb tweeted a rebuttal to Killer Mike’s argument.

Political discourse in 2016 sure is funny, isn’t it?
